Old Meets New

We just finished up a photo restoration for a local client. She has a friend who lives here in Guilford with a substantially old home. Her idea was match a photo taken today, 2010, with a photo taken in the early 1900s (1900-1910), and give it as a gift to the current owner. Well, we are always up to the challenge, and we love to flex our creative muscles so we said yes The biggest challenge was the angle of view. Since the images were taken roughly 100+ years ago you can imagine how much the landscaping has changed. The trees have grown up, new homes have been built, but the actual street remains the same except for being paved. So, upon surveying the location we decided that an opposite view was the best since the land was surprisingly unchanged.
The original images are quite interesting. In the second original below which is BW and not Sepia, you can see 5 people dressed in the fashions of the day. The vehicles of transportation in that part of the 19th/20th century were Horse & Buggy and Bicycle. Both of which were visible in the image. For the sake of consistency, I decided to include a couple of automobiles in the new images we took so that if and when another image is taken 100 years from now, people who own "flying cars" will look back and say "look at that old car on the ground!"
